Dark, dramatic and big, AC Edmonds is a semi-cactus in deep, saturated red. The petals roll back along their length into fine points, giving each bloom a spiky, radiant outline that reads clearly from across a garden. Flowers fall in the A size class, eight to ten inches across, so one stem makes a statement on its own. It is a new variety, added to the American Dahlia Society classification in 2023.
Before its release it earned a strong score in the Society's Pacific Northwest trial garden, which is a good sign for stem quality and plant habit. Give it a solid stake and generous spacing and it will repay you with towering, saturated blooms late into the season. In the vase it brings depth to burgundy and orange mixes and looks stunning against cream. One for growers who want a dark dinnerplate with real architecture.
