Bred in Australia and still uncommon in Canada, Florelie Jeanette is a purple with real personality. Each bloom shades from rich mauve purple at the centre to a softer lilac at the edges, and every petal, even the darkest, carries a fine pale rim that gives the flower a crisp, two toned finish. The blooms are small and neatly rounded, so the colour pattern stays sharp rather than blurring into a mass.
The plant is tall for a small flowered variety, running to around five feet, and it is generous with its blooms once established. Stems are long and the flowers hold up well after cutting, which is why its breeder calls it a favourite purple for the vase. It pairs naturally with white, blush and silver foliage, and it adds depth to a mixed bunch of pinks. A good pick for growers who want a reliable purple that does more than just fill space.
