Dark purple flecks are scattered over a juicy purple base, giving these blooms a playful, speckled look. Now and then a plant sends up a solid bloom in a rich chocolate plum, so no two stems are quite alike. Flowers measure about 5 to 6 inches across. It comes from Steve and Sandy Boley, the hybridizers behind the Sandia name.
Plants are on the compact side, around 3 to 3.5 feet tall, which suits smaller beds and containers. The variable colouring adds interest to mixed bouquets. It pairs nicely with lavender, plum and soft pink. Anyone who enjoys a whimsical, flecked dahlia will have fun with this one.
