A clean, solid coral from edge to centre, Bloomquist Harmony is a tight semi-cactus with neatly rolled petals and a crisp silhouette. The blooms run five to six inches and keep their colour even in the heat of midsummer, when many coral and salmon dahlias fade to washed-out pink. It is a confident, modern colour that photographs beautifully.
Plants grow to three or four feet and produce strong stems that hold up in the vase, which makes it equally at home in a market bunch or a high-end design piece. Bred by Paul Bloomquist of Lynden, Washington, it is part of the legacy collection that keeps his work in circulation. Pair it with peach, cream and burgundy for depth, or with white for a bright, summery contrast.
