There is a watercolour quality to Burfoot Lotus that is hard to capture in a photo. Petals wash from soft salmon pink into warm butter yellow and back again as the season moves, and each one carries a darker pink edge that looks brushed on by hand. The open, waterlily-style blooms fold gently inward toward evening and reopen with the sun, which gives the plant a living, changing character. Centres stay tightly closed right to the end, so every flower finishes cleanly.
A new 2025 release from Burfoot Flowers in Washington, this is a fast, vigorous grower that reaches around five feet and genuinely needs a stake. It starts flowering early and keeps going, on straight, sturdy stems that cut well without disbudding. Growers report it shrugs off heat and stays consistent through the whole season. Use it as the soft focal point in peach and blush arrangements, or let it carry a bouquet on its own.
