Dark purple at its heart, Davina Michelle shifts to rich magenta toward the petal tips, giving the bloom real depth. It is a decorative dahlia with a velvety, luscious finish that catches the eye from across the garden. The variety is named for the Dutch singer Davina Michelle, who chose it with a grower in North Holland.
Plants reach about two and a half to three and a half feet, a manageable height for borders and larger pots. Flowers are held on long, sturdy stems and are noted as good for cutting, with a long show through summer and autumn. Set it beside lime green foliage, deep burgundy dahlias or soft pink cosmos for contrast. A strong choice for gardeners who love saturated jewel tones.
