Toffee is softer than its name suggests. The small decorative blooms are a dusty lemon yellow with peach and blush creeping in at the petal tips, so the colour sits somewhere between butter and caramel depending on the light. It is a muted, grown up yellow that works with pastels rather than fighting them.
Growers single this one out for being early to flower and remarkably productive, throwing a mass of small blooms that keep coming as long as you keep cutting. It is a natural partner for peach, cream and soft pink, and it adds warmth to a bunch of whites. Bred near Ballarat in Australia for cooler conditions, it should feel right at home in a southern Ontario summer.
