Veca Lucia

Veca Lucia is a dazzling informal decorative dahlia celebrated for its painterly blend of lavender-pink, cream, and magenta tones finished with a striking picotee edge. The 6 to 8 inch blooms are fully double, with long, slightly twisted petals arranged in an artful, frilled silhouette. Each petal is tipped in a deep magenta-plum band, creating vivid contrast against the softer interior tones. As the bloom opens, a subtle creamy-yellow glow may emerge from the center, adding warmth and dimension.

Plants grow to approximately 4 to 4.5 feet in height, forming tall, full, upright plants that produce substantial, attention-grabbing flowers. With strong stems and reliable performance, Veca Lucia is an exceptional focal bloom for cutting gardens and statement arrangements.

Its multi-tonal palette pairs beautifully with blush, dusty rose, muted plum, creamy ivory, soft peach, and romantic jewel-toned designs. The dramatic picotee edging adds movement and contrast, making it especially compelling in wedding work and large-scale bouquet compositions.

Hybridized by Lou Paradise and introduced in 1997, Veca Lucia remains a sought-after variety for collectors and designers who appreciate complexity and bold colour interplay.
