Golden yellow petals warm into a sunset ombre, and each one is finished with a fine lipstick red edge. The semi-cactus form gives the bloom a lively, spiky outline. Flowers reach 6 inches or more across, so this is a variety that gets noticed. It is one of the late Paul Bloomquist's introductions.
Sporty makes a bold statement in a border or a cutting row. The picotee edging stands out best in larger arrangements where the bloom can be seen up close. Pair it with deep red, rust or orange dahlias for a warm late summer display. It suits growers who like big, high-contrast flowers.
