Fairway Pilot is a true giant, with formal decorative blooms that can reach 10 inches or more across. The petals are a soft salmon pink with a gentle blush cast, layered in a full, orderly dome. For all its size, the colour stays soft and easy to pair. It is the kind of flower that stops people at the garden gate.
Unlike many dinnerplate dahlias, this one stays stocky, growing to roughly 2.5 to 3.5 feet with a sturdy frame that stands up well to autumn weather. It can take a little longer than average to get going, but once it starts it keeps blooming into fall. Florists value it for weddings and events where one big face makes a statement. Cut when about three quarters open for the best vase performance.
