Penhill Dark Monarch

Penhill Dark Monarch is a dramatic informal decorative dahlia known for its large, deeply blended blooms and striking colour contrast. The impressive 10-inch flowers feature layered petals washed in rich purple tones, infused with golden-yellow undertones that create depth and movement. Its bold colouring and expansive form make it a commanding presence in both garden and arrangement.

Despite the substantial bloom size, this variety grows on a stocky, well-balanced plant reaching approximately 4.5 feet in height. Strong stems support the large flowers, making it a dependable option for cutting when properly supported. Penhill Dark Monarch delivers show-stopping blooms from mid-season onward.

The saturated purple and golden blend pairs beautifully with burgundy, antique cream, soft plum, warm caramel, and muted apricot shades. It adds dramatic depth to moody palettes while also acting as a statement focal flower in larger arrangements.
