Few dahlias come as dark as this velvety black red. The blooms are small, rounded miniature balls about 2 to 3 inches across, with petal tips that sometimes split for a softly fringed look. Their depth of colour makes everything around them seem brighter. It comes from the Ferncliff line, bred in British Columbia.
Plants grow 3.5 to 5 feet tall and bloom all season on long, strong stems. It is a favourite accent flower for autumn bouquets. Pair it with peach, apricot or cream to make the dark tones stand out. Designers and gardeners after a reliable dark accent will find it earns its place.
