Deep burgundy petals read almost black, especially in the bud and at the heart of the bloom. The flowers are neat formal decoratives, with tidy, evenly layered petals. They stay fairly small, around 3.5 to 4 inches across. It is a dependable dark dahlia with a polished look.
Plants reach about 4 to 5 feet and produce blooms all season. Growers rate it highly for fall bouquets, wedding work and floral design. The dark colour makes a rich backdrop for peach, apricot, cream and soft pink. Anyone building a moody palette will reach for it often.
