True to its name, this is a big, bold red semi-cactus. The blooms are classed as large and can reach giant size in good conditions, often measuring ten inches across. Pointed, partly rolled petals give the deep red flower a lively, spiky outline.
The plant stands about four feet tall on sturdy, long stems. A large bloom like this makes a dramatic single stem in a tall vase or a strong focal point in the garden. Disbudding and steady feeding help it reach its full size.
