Tightly cupped petals form a small, perfectly rounded ball in the deep, glossy tone of a black cherry. Hints of plum purple catch the light at the petal edges, while the centre falls almost to black. It is a rich, moody bloom that looks almost velvet.
This one carries the Hollyhill prefix of Ted Kennedy’s Oregon breeding program. Dark ball dahlias are favourites for autumn work, adding depth beside peach, rust and cream flowers.
