Penhill Watermelon

Penhill Watermelon is a spectacular informal decorative dahlia renowned for its enormous, shaggy blooms and luminous colour blend. The impressive 12-inch flowers display soft layers of pink, lavender, and pale yellow, merging into a watercolor-like wash of pastel tones. The long, slightly irregular petals create movement and texture, giving each bloom a dramatic yet romantic presence.

This variety grows vigorously, reaching approximately 6 feet in height. Despite its size, the plant maintains strong structure, producing substantial stems capable of supporting its oversized blooms with proper staking. Penhill Watermelon is widely regarded as one of the finest Penhill introductions and is known to compete for ’largest bloom’ honours in show settings.

Its blended pastel colouring pairs beautifully with blush, antique cream, soft mauve, muted plum, and warm peach shades. It serves as an extraordinary focal flower in large-scale arrangements and adds theatrical elegance to garden displays.
